The Backslider

Proverb 14:14, “The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways:
and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.”

Most professed Christians today's are filled with their own ways. Most of the professed Christians I have known throughout my life were filled with their own selfish ways. In Revelation 3:15-16, God says that He wants us hot or cold. God says He'll vomit anyone out of His mouth who are in the middle, i.e. lukewarm. God detests fence-straddlers.

Every child of God should be hot about the inspiration of the King James Bible. We should be hot about the simplicity of the Gospel. We should be hot about the issues of abortion, homosexuality and indecency in America.

Tragically, most churchgoers today's are as cold as ice. It doesn't really matter to them what Bible they use. It doesn't matter if women dress immodestly and wear pants in public. Shame on them! It doesn't matter about abortion or homosexuality. God cares (1st Peter 5:7). If we are have the mind of Jesus (Philippians 2:5), then we ought to care as well. A Christian who doesn't care is not close to God. God cares about that one sheep that goes astray (Matthew 18:12). God cares about every jot and tittle (Matthew 5:18). God cares about the words we speak (Matthew 12:36). God cares about the little things that we overlook. The backslider makes light of little things. Instead, they are filled with their own ways.

The backslider in heart is consumed with their own agendas, their own priorities and their own things. Philippians 2:21, “For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's.” The Christian who is right with God will care about their words, the inspiration of the King James Bible, that one lost sheep and the things of Jesus Christ. You cannot serve God and your own selfish desires. America is filled with phony Christians who name the name of Jesus; but live lives totally depraved of soulwinning, holy living, contending for the Christian faith and fighting the good fight of faith.

Jesus asked us to bear our cross and follow Him. Matthew 10:38, “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of Me.” 2nd Timothy 3:12 , “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” Of you live for Jesus and carry a Bible, the world will give you up. I have lost nearly every so-called friend I've ever had, simply by preaching the Word of God to them. They, like Demas, forsook the things of God because they loved this present world. 2nd Timothy 4:10, “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.” Jesus is my only true Friend. I am the friend of God (James 4:4), and the world hates me. John 15:19, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”

The Bible teaches that a good man shall be satisfied from himself (Proverb 14:14). That means we put the things of Jesus Christ as top priority in our life. That means we are soulwinners (Luke 8:15). That means we help “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40). That means we contend for the Christian faith (Jude 1:3). That means doing unto others as we would have them do unto us (Matthew 7:12). That means searching the Scriptures (John 5:39). That means departing from iniquity ( 2nd Timothy 2:19). That means drawing nigh unto God (James 4:8). It's either our own ways, or the ways of Jesus Christ. The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways.

John 8:32 and 36, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free ...
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
