What Saith the Scripture?

Romans 4:3, “For what saith the scripture?
Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.”

What saith the Scripture? The Apostle Paul, in addressing the matter of salvation, directs us to the Scriptures. What saith the Scripture? The answer is plainly stated in Romans 4:3, “For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” Amen! I love that precious truth! What does the Holy Bible say? It says you get saved simply by BELIEVING ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! That's how Abraham was saved. Acts 16:30b-31a, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”

There is a war on the internet and in the churches today over how to be saved. My friend... WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? There is much disagreement over what it means to “repent” to be saved. May I say... WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? O, what a grand solution! What a clear, irrefutable and solid answer to any argument... WHAT SAITH THE SCRIPTURE? There is only one opinion that matters—GOD'S OPINION!

In the Old Testament book of Judges, we are told that the people did that which was RIGHT! They wanted to do right! But they wanted to choose what was right. Judges 21:25, “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Americans have decided that abortion is right, because the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1973 that a growing child in the womb is not a human being. In 1787, the  of the U.S. Constitution decided that black men's votes only counted for three-fifths of the white inhabitants of any particular state.

The Bible foretold that in the last days “perilous” (difficult to endure) times would come. The reason why is clearly stated in 2nd Timothy 3:1—“For men shall be lovers of their own selves”! The reason why perilous times are here today is because people are perilous! They don't love God, they love themselves! When men become their own Gods, destruction is inevitable! As Christians we fear, trust and obey God. Proverbs 3:5-7, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” The heathen wicked world does their own thing! The world does not fear God. That's why times have become so “perilous.”

The internet is absolutely saturated with heresy and false doctrine today—primarily the false teaching that salvation requires some amount of personal effort (or a desire to stop sinning) in order to be saved. That is not what the Scripture saith. The Bible says Abraham's faith was COUNTED for righteousness, which means Abraham didn't need any righteousness of his own to be saved, and a good thing, because Abraham had none to offer, and neither do we. We are saved by God's righteousness which only comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:9, “And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”

Salvation is rooted solely in Christ's righteousness. We read in Romans 10:3-4, For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” Many people today, including those who teach the lie of Lordship Salvation, are ignorant of God's righteousness. The righteousness of God is by faith in Jesus Christ, Who is the “end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”

There is Hope!

If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
