America's Insincere Society
John 16:20,33, “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”
We live in a society of insincere phonies in America. I'm not talking about a person who sins or makes mistakes, that's human, and we all mess up. I'm talking about those who are willingly arrogant, don't love Jesus Christ, and lack sincere care and concern for their fellow mankind.
I can give you umpteen examples, but I'll name just a few...
The non-profit charity, Children International, appeals to TV viewers to give $22 per month to provide a poor child with medical, food, education, clean water and clothing. Yet the CEO of the company received $374,935 in 2008! As far as I'm concerned, that shows a lot of insincerity. If a mere $22 can make such a drastic difference in the life of a child, then what does that say about a so-called charity that pays multi 6-digit salaries to their executives? Put your money where your mouth is. The same is true of Red Cross and United Way, who compensate their top CEO with over $600,000 per year.
Another woeful insincerity in the United States are generic template apology letters. You can buy them at any large stationary store, download them off the internet, or obtain them from a vast variety of places. They're so insincere. When you get abused, mistreated or neglected by a business, especially a medical institution, you deserve much more than a generic template apology letter that says too bad, so sad, blah, blah, blah. Yet, this is what you can expect even from a hospital that mistreats you. They're cowards who don't care, and they think the way to make things right with you is to just mail you a generic apology letter. It's an insult and insincere. Companies today send out apology letters like candy bars, with no sincerity, nor any real desire to do what is right. They do what makes them more money, whether it be right or wrong, which is why we see so much lewd advertising. America has lost it's sincerity.
Another insincerity is in America's churches. I visited a church not too long ago, that had invited a guest missionary speaker to preach that particular Sunday. The guest speaker strongly appealed to the church (about 700 members), to “dig deep” and “give until it hurts.” He begged for money for an entire hour, stressing the importance of helping missionary churches. As he spoke, I read the church's weekly bulletin and read about an upcoming trip to the Holy Land. I visited the same church a month later, and found out that 20-members of the church had gone on this trip to the Holy Land. The trip cost them about $100,000 total. I couldn't help but realize the insincerity of that church. They invite guest preachers to hound the congregation for money, money, money, to help struggling missionaries; but then the wealthy members of the church blow $100,000 on a vacation trip overseas to the Holy Land. It's hypocritical and insincere. If missionaries need money so bad, and if giving to God is so important, then why did that church squander all that money on a needless trip to the Holy Land?
Summary
There is so much insincerity in the world today. Charities tell us how much $22 a month can drastically better a child's life; while paying their CEO $375,000 a year! Church leaders make us feel bad for not giving every last penny we have to help God's work; while they waste $100,000 on a trip to the Holy Land and pamper themselves in good living. Hospitals who abuse us send an apology letter; but won't even speak with us concerning the issues, nor apologize in person. These are just a handful of thousands of insincerities in society today.
The Word of God foretold that these selfish times would come, when people are insincere, high-minded, without natural affection, covetous, proud, lovers of pleasure more than God, and having a form of righteousness...
2nd Timothy 3:1-5, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”
The larger a business becomes, the less it cares about customer complaints, because they don't need you. Corporations, hospitals, banks, et cetera, have become cutthroat in America.
Jesus said in Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." Most people today are IMPURE in their heart, in their thoughts, in their words, and in their deeds. Very few people are pure in their heart, and are thankful to God, and caring toward other people, and believe on Jesus as the Christ.
Much of the religion, charity and social services we see today are done through insincerity. Consequently, most religions are false. Most charities are operated by selfish people who live high-on-the-hog. Most social services work for the government and don't care about families. May we all strive and learn to be sincere and pure of heart, as is God.
