Beware Of The False Light
By David J. Stewart | October 2009
2nd Corinthians 11:13-14, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.”
The Bible warns us that there is a false light, and that light is Satan. In John 8:12 Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." Jesus is the true Light of the world.
King David said in the Old Testament, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" (Psalm 119:105). The Word of God is also called the Light of the world.
In John 1:1 Jesus is called "the Word." In Revelation 19:13 Jesus is called "the Word of God." Hence, Jesus is the Living Word, and the Bible is the Written Word. Philippians 2:5 teaches, "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus." To have the mind of Christ, we need to have a Scriptural mind.
The way we have the mind of Christ is to SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES. John 5:39 reads, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." This is the true Light, Jesus Christ, Who is revealed in the pages of God's Word.
Anyone who speaks about religion or spiritual matters without referring to the Scriptures is pulling on the same rope as the Devil. The true Light is Jesus Christ, Who is revealed in the Scriptures.
Revelation 19:10 says, "Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." The purpose of all the prophecy in the Bible is to testify to us concerning the wonderful Savior, Jesus.
The Word of God is the SEED by which we are born-again. 1st Peter 1:23, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
In Matthew 5:14 Jesus said, "Ye are the light of the world" (speaking of born-again Christians). Every Christian has the Spirit of Jesus Christ living within them. Thus, every believer is a light in this world of sin, allowing the Light of Jesus Christ to shine from within them to the lost. We are not the true Light; but rather Jesus, the true Light lives within us as believers (Romans 8:9).The Bible teaches that Satan is a liar and the father of all liars (John 8:44). 2nd Corinthians 4:4 teaches that Satan is the god of this sinful world, and deliberately blinds the minds of unbelievers, to prevent them from getting saved. Satan masquerades himself as the light, to deceive people.
Matthew 7:15 warns us that Satan's false prophets come to us as wolves in sheep's clothing, to trick us. This is a key Biblical teaching, and one that is often disregarded in these times of woeful apostasy.
May we be on guard against Satan and his false ministers, who are transformed into ministers of righteousness (falsely so), to deceive us. This is what 2nd Corinthians 11:13-14 tell us.
God loves us and wants all people to go to Heaven. This is only possible through Christ's righteousness; and not by any self-righteousness of our own, and a good thing, because we have none to offer (Isaiah 64:6). Jesus paid a debt He did not owe, because we owed a debt we could not pay. Our sin debt is paid in full. Eternal life is the gift of God (Romans 6:23). Salvation is freely given (Romans 5:15), freely offered (Romans 10:13), and freely received (Revelation 22:17). Salvation is receiving, not giving.
Salvation happens when a person acknowledges their guilt of sin, coming to God on the basis that they are a hell-deserving sinner, and believes on Jesus, the Christ, the Son of God, to forgive their sins. It's that simple.
John 8:32,36, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free... If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
