Me And My Wife Felt Unloved At
Family Baptist Church In Pensacola
by David J. Stewart | June 2025
I cannot think of anything more hateful than for a so-called “church” to tell anyone that they are no longer welcome to attend their church.
I had attended the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola at 5454 W. Mobile Highway for 45 months (2021-2025). In that time I never once caused any trouble. I never criticized the pastor behind his back. I was a complete gentleman and friend to their church.
That being said, when Pastor Brad slandered Pastor Jack Hyles to me and my wife in his office on April 30th, 2025 (we had been invited for marriage counseling, but Pastor Brad decided to give me the third degree over my website ministry instead), only then did I write some negative comments on Facebook, because I was understandably upset; but I never mentioned Pastor Brad's name, nor the name of the church, nor anyone else's name. Yet, some church members recognized who I was talking about, and got my words back to Pastor Brad. The next Sunday when we arrived in the church parking lot, we were told by the pastor's rude father never to come back to their church again. No one has bothered to talk with us first. According to Matthew 18, that is not the biblical way to handle a situation.
During the 45 months that I attended their church, not once did Pastor Bradley Moffett or his Smart Alecky father ever initiate a single conversation with me, to learn who I am. They didn't care to find out my story. Everyone has a story! What a crying shame that so many pastors today couldn't care less about people. In 2021 when I started going to Family Baptist Church, I was lonely, divorced, suffering with health afflictions, and hurting in my soul, but their pastors couldn't have cared less. People just want to be loved. From the time that I started going to their church, until the day that they shamefully kicked me and Alice out in 2025, it was blatantly clear to me that the pastors wouldn't have cared if I just left and never came back again. No one ever asked for my contact information.
On April 30th, 2025, I and my wife (I remarried my former wife) met with Brad Moffett, who had invited us for marriage counseling. To our shock and horror, the pastor changed his mind without notifying us, deciding to criticize my ministry website at Jesus-is-Savior.com instead. Here are the details if you'd like to learn more.
During that painful meeting, Pastor Brad horribly criticized Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) by falsely accusing Dr. Hyles of teaching things on sex and marriage that ruined hundreds of families, causing them to go into sexual immorality and divorce. When I asked him to tell me what he was talking about, Pastor Brad refused to tell us. People who claim to “know things” never seem to have any proof to back up their slander. Those buzzards aren't worthy to shine Pastor Hyles' shoes!!!
We haven't felt any love from these pastors. Brad and his father know that I and Alice are from Hyles-Anderson College, which Pastor Jack Hyles founded in 1972. Yet, Pastor Brad took the liberty to slander our hero of the Christian faith. Proverbs 17:4, “A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue.”
Furthermore, the Bible says there is a curse upon anyone who preaches another Gospel. ...
Galatians 1:6-9, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
In their official Statement of Faith, the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola requires people to “Repent of your sins” to get to Heaven. This is a false gospel message! God's curse is upon the Family Baptist Church in Pensacola and their demon-inspired pastors! You won't shut me up! Shame on Pastor Brad and Bobby Moffett for preaching “another gospel” (2nd Corinthians 11:3-4).
Me and Alice (my wife) have some dear friends, Tom and Sharon, who used to attend Family Baptist Church. Tom is a good man who contends for the faith once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3). One Sunday after the church service, Tom did the right thing. He kindly told Pastor Brad Moffett that he should be warning people about the Devil's corrupt Bible revisions. Now, I don't know what really happened. Tom says he was kicked out right away. Brad says that it was only after exchanging 128 mails that he became frustrated and told Tom to leave. Only God and those two men know the truth. All I know is that Pastor Brad didn't talk to me and Alice even once before deciding to kick us out of church! That wasn't a nice thing to do to a guy who's been a loyal member for 45 months.
Things became so heated that Tom was told the police would be called if he even stepped foot onto the church property. This doesn't sound like a loving place to me. And by the way, the pastor's rude father threatened to call the police on me and Alice on June 22nd if we didn't leave right away. This was after he coldheartedly told us never to come back to church again. No one ever tried to talk with us.
Dear reader, that is not the way that a local New Testament church should behave. A genuine man of God wants to reconcile, not drive people away from God's flock. What saith the Scripture? Jeremiah 23:1-2, “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.” The uncaring pastors of Family Baptist Church don't care. That is my honest opinion of them! Their social club comes first, but individual people do not matter. I can only speak for me and my wife. We were horribly mistreated!
On June 22, 2025, when “Bobby Boy” Moffett cruelly told me and Alice that we were no longer welcome at Family Baptist Church, that jerk actually had a silly-ass grin on his face. He was glad to see us go. That revealed volumes to us how cold-hearted, wicked and far away from God he really is, woefully lacking any love or compassion for people. That is not defamation, that is how we were mistreated.
This all happened because the pastors at Family Baptist Church were being busybodies, worried about my comments on social media. Evidently they don't have anything more important to do. I hadn't once mentioned their names, nor the name of their church. Yet, like communist North Korea and fascist Nazi-Germany, they were monitoring my comments on FaceBook. They became angry when I indirectly said on Facebook that they are not worthy to shine Pastor Jack Hyles' shoes. I was understandably upset that Pastor Brad had falsely slandered Pastor Jack Hyles on April 30th, 2025 in his office.
In my Christian opinion, they woefully lack God's unconditional love for sinners at Family Baptist Church. They mistreated Tom and Sharon in my humble opinion, banning Tom (and thus his wife) from coming to church anymore. I met Tom and Sharon a few months ago at a different church. Sharon told me how much they were hurt by Brad Moffett for his mistreatment of Tom.
Then there's Bobby, a dear elderly man who lives across the street from Family Baptist Church. Bobby lives alone. He is cranky most of the time, but is a good man. I learned a long time ago, when I went to Hyles-Anderson College to train to be a pastor, that you need to learn to deal with many different types of church members. In fact, Dr. Hyles wrote a helpful book titled: 'How To Treat Different Types Of Church Members.' Bobby, who lives across the street, can be harsh with his words at times. He needs to be handled with love and care, not reprimanded like a child. Bobby lives right across the street, yet the church gave up on him! I met Bobby a few months ago at a different church that he now attends. Family Baptist Church has a revolving door. It seems that they are losing church members as fast as they gain them!
In my opinion, they have a very poor attitude at Family Baptist Church. Instead of loving folks with God's unconditional love, they spy on people on social media, threaten people with the police, drive people out of church and ban them from returning. This is not the Christian thing to do! If the Apostle Peter were here today, he would not be monitoring your comments on social media to see if you are talking about him. What immature children for pastors!!!
In my humble opinion, there is a woeful lack of God's love for hurting people at Family Baptist Church. I suffer in horrible agonizing chronic neck pain every moment of my life. Since 2007 I have taken prescription Oxycontin, Percocet and other necessary drugs every day to cope with my neck pain. I take Gabapentin to cope with the radiating pain in my arms and legs. I have underwent two major neck surgeries, in 2009 and 2010, the second of which made me 100% worse. Yet, the pastors of Family Baptist Church in Pensacola had ZERO understanding toward with me. Instead of loving me as a human being, they didn't even bother to talk with me and Alice before kicking us out! It matters how you treat people!
I feel so sorry for Miss Lucretia. She is 100% physically blind, since age 20 due to cataracts. I and Lucretia have been best friends at Family Baptist Church since 2021. I brought her a bag of Skittles every Sunday morning for 45 months. We sat together in church. We sang together. She gently held my arm each Sunday as I led her outside and waited with her for her ride home. Sadly, even though the church has a full-sized van with their ministry's name on the side, Lucretia has to pay with her own money for an Uber every Sunday. That is disgraceful!
In one fell swoop, those selfish pastors at Family Baptist Church stripped away all my friends and church family of 45 months. They couldn't care less about hurting my friendship with Miss Lucretia, and dozens of other church friendships. God never disowns His children. In my humble opinion, ONLY RELIGIOUS CULTS TELL PEOPLE THEY ARE NOT WELCOME AT A CHURCH! You either love everybody or you don't love anybody. Jesus even loved Judas, calling Him, “Friend.”
And may I say, just because I wasn't an official voted-in legal member for 45 months that I attended Family Baptist Church, doesn't mean that I wasn't a spiritual member in GOD'S SIGHT. When Dickey asked me (while I was voluntarily taking out the garbage at the revival last year) when I am going to become a member of the church, I smiled and kindly said: “I am a member.” In God's sight I am a member of the church that I attend regularly. For their horrible pastors to mistreat me, giving me the cold shoulder continually because I haven't been voted-in, doesn't exclude me as a member of the Body of Christ. I had never felt loved by the leadership of their church, nor the pastor's family.
When me and Alice met with Pastor Brad on April 30th, 2025, he said concerning joining their church: “We make it hard to join and easy to leave.” Why in the world would any pastor make it HARD to join a church? That makes no sense at all! On the Day of Pentecost the Bible says in Acts 2:41 that 3,000 people were saved and added to the church in just one day. The apostles didn't make it HARD to get saved and join the church. It was EASY to get saved and join the church! If you are a born again Christian and attend a certain local church, you should be deemed a member of that church.
You cannot show me one verse in the inspired Holy Bible which teaches to kick a sinner out of a local church. The Apostle Paul told the elders of the church at Corinth to turn the man living in open adultery over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, if he refused to repent (1st Corinthians 5:1-5). But the Bible doesn't say to kick him out of church! How can you help needy sinners if you kick them out of a spiritual hospital, which is what a local church ought to be?
Respect is a door that swings both ways. When arrogant pastors think that they are the only one's worthy of respect, they mistreat people and that causes problems. The proudful pastors of Family Baptist Church mistreated us. In our humble opinion as God's children, those pastors are worldly and woefully lack God's love for hurting people. I can only speak for me and my wife.
I once heard pastor Brad Moffett teach in a sermon from Galatians 6:1, saying that when someone leaves the church, we should go get them back in a spirit of meekness and love. I couldn't help but immediately think about Tom, a dear 85 year old elderly man whom Brad Moffett ultimately kicked out of the church in 2022. Tom told Pastor Brad THE TRUTH that he should be warning people about Satan's corrupt Bible versions. According to Pastor Brad, that escalated into 128 email exchanges in which Tom gave the pastor a hard time, and he ultimately had to tell Tom not to return to the church.
In fairness to Pastor Brad, I don't know the whole story and it's none of my business. But I can say that Pastor Brad made the decision to kick me and Alice out of the church, and no one ever bothered to talk with us before doing so. That wasn't the biblical way to handle the matter. Matthew 18 says that the pastor alone should have tried to talk with us, since he was the one who was offended by my comments on Facebook about him (although I never mentioned his name or the church). I had every right to be upset, which came out in my preaching on social media.
When people are kicked out of a local so-called “church,” the church is not behaving like a New Testament church should. I never caused the least bit of trouble in the 45 months that I attended their church. Me and my wife Alice were kicked out of Family Baptist Church because their pastors were being busybodies, monitoring my personal comments on Facebook. Not one verse in the inspired Holy Bible teaches to throw people out of a church. God doesn't disown His children!!! No one should ever be told that they cannot come back to church. How can we help people if we forbid them from hearing Bible preaching in a church? In my humble opinion, only cults and social clubs expel people. When pastors kick people out of church, they are putting themselves in the place of almighty God. No pastor has the God-given right to strip away one's church family. Again, we never caused the least bit of problems in the church. I cannot think of anything more awful. When churches start monitoring people's comments on social media, that is eerily reminiscent of communist North Korea.
In my humble opinion, Tom never should have been kicked out of the church. I have a right to my own opinion. Tom is 47 years older than Pastor Brad. I think Brad should show more respect for his elders. I really do. Pastor Brad admitted to me and Alice on April 30th, 2025, in his office that several people have quit the church. That doesn't surprise me at all, considering the unkind pattern of their pastors. In my experience, people don't usually leave a church to go elsewhere unless they are frustrated and unhappy. I personally feel that Bobby across the street from the church was mistreated by Pastor Brad.
Regarding Pastor Brad's wife, I think is is disgraceful that she chooses to wear pants in public. I have a right to my opinion. I admire her musical talent and that as a mother she is earning her master's Degree. Albeit, I disrespect her for wearing pants. My websites are my ministry pulpit. I preach what I believe God has laid upon my heart to preach. It's none of my business if a pastor's wife wears pants, but Pastor Brad made a big fuss on April 30th in his office about my ministry articles online which preach against Christian ladies wearing pants in public.
I humbly think that it is sinful for women to wear sexy pants that reveal the shape of her buttock and thighs. There's not a topic that I preach on that has caused me more grief than that women shouldn't wear pants in public. I will go to seed in this matter of women who wear pants. Call me old fashioned if you will, but I am right. In the year 1900 you never would have seen any pastor's wife (or any Christian woman for that matter) wearing a pair of pants in public. Only women of questionable character wore pants in 1900. God hasn't changed. Right and wrong haven't changed. Only a fool would dare to claim that only culture has changed, and that morality had nothing to do with the fact that 99% of women wore dresses in public in the year 1900. The truth is that the only reason why Christian women wear pants in 2025 is because everybody else is doing it too. But that doesn't make something okay or right in the Lord's eyes just because everybody else is doing it. I know I am right, and so do you if you'll be honest with God and yourself. I speak with a broken heart, not to be mean or unkind, God knows my heart in this matter.
Kicking God's children (or anybody) out of a local church is a hateful thing to do, in my humble opinion. It is certainly not God's unconditional love for people. We are all struggling sinners. What gives any pastor the right to ban people from attending a local church? I never saw Tom disrupt a single church service. I never disrupted a church service. I have never seen anybody, of all the thousands of church services that I have attended during my 58 year lifetime, disrupt a church service. I take that back, I saw one time as a teenager when a woman's x-husband disrupted a Wednesday evening Bible study.
In my humble opinion, pastor Brad's rude father controls Family Baptist Church, since he started the church in 2013 to my understanding. I thought the church belonged to God, not the pastor's personal family. Y'all need to get your house in order. I say that lovingly. We didn't want this fight. We simply asked to join the church, but were treated like garbage in the pastor's office. That is how we were made to feel, as the pastor slandered Pastor Jack Hyles. Brad tried to downplay what he said in his office, when I spoke with him on July4th at Home Depot, but me and Alice know what we heard Pastor Brad say about Brother Hyles
Brad cited a quote from Dr. Hyles in one of my ministry articles, in which Pastor Hyles said: “I don't have a dirty mind, I have a man's mind.” Pastor Brad said that if a Christian man walks in the Spirit, he won't fulfill the lust of the flesh the Bible says, so it shouldn't matter if a woman wears pants. The pastor is wrong on multiple levels, which is one reason why I call him incompetent. One problem is that most Christian men do not walk in the Spirit. Unsaved men don't even know the Holy Spirit. Let's be honest, when any normal red-blooded man sees an attractive woman wearing a paid of snug pants, he is not thinking about the hymn “Amazing Grace” or John 3:16 in the Bible.
Any man who denies this truth is being dishonest in my humble opinion. Women today have no idea how difficult it is for men to live right. You ladies have no idea what goes through a man's mind when he sees an immodestly clothed girl or woman. Dr. Hyles was absolutely right, “I don't have a dirty mind, I have a man's mind.” The fact that Pastor Brad criticized Dr. Hyles for making that true statement, and implied that Pastor Hyles was carnally minded hurt our feelings. Pastor Hyles is my and Alice's hero of the Christian faith. In my humble opinion, neither Brad Moffett nor his father are worthy to shine Pastor Hyles' shoes!!!
Woe unto the pastors who scatter God's flock! Jeremiah 23:1, “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.” Thank you for reading.
